Yeah there's a reason I follow art blogs only... As much as there are really funny or cute posts on Tumblr there are some mega downer posts that just take away from it. I enjoy Tumblr being a source of inspiration, not frustration.
I hear that. Honestly leaning towards limiting my follows to mostly artblogs yeah, haha - save for friends’ personal blogs, most all of whom are supacool people who don’t have time for petty arguments over cartoons.
Young Link (Soprano), Wind Waker Link (Alto), Adult Link (Tenor), and Twilight Princess Link (Bass) wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year with their, er, rousing rendition of a Christmas classic.
let me point out that Christmas has been over for nearly four months and I’m still getting the occasional notification that someone has reblogged this. It’s also probably the single most popular post on Link Making Faces.
I do so much stuff in this fandom and the thing that gets the most exposure is Links screaming to the tune of “Carol of the Bells”
K let’s knock out what I got! Always open for more, too.
What’s your favorite food, Mia? Fish would be the obligatory answer here, haha. She does love her some seafood (and often fishes herself whenever the chance arises - she’s helped herself to many a self-cooked trout when roughing it out in the country), but other possibly more-favored treats for her are ham, jerky, and especially cheese.
To Mia: what’s your favourite color? And what is your least favourite color? Funny thing about Mia - she’s partially color blind! Not quite to the extent of a true cat, but warmer colors are still slightly more dulled to her eyes than for an average human. Oddly enough though she seems to gravitate anyway towards warm earthy colors - reds, oranges, rich browns. Many of them kind of blend together for her but it’s a preference she’s always had. Least favorites are anything too dull or cool - bluish grays, that kind of thing. Not big on black either. In her own words, “I’d prolly get depressed just wearing those!”
Mia: What’s your fondest memory of the orphanage you grew up in? Ooooh an in-depth one. Well… I won’t go into too much detail regarding this (again spoilers for rp buddies lol :c) but there was one friend in particular she’d made there around age… I dunno, 8. She had a couple of years on Mia but was unusual in how completely accepting she was of the traits that tended to unnerve others or elicit discrimination. Needless to say Mia was super-quick to warm up to that, and they’d ended up hitting it off. All the times Mia had shared with her were easily her favorite childhood memories, particularly getting to make something together with her that’s still the most treasured thing she owns. Probably says something that it was a short while after said friend had been adopted when Mia finally made the decision to head out and live for herself.
Leon, imagine you met a space alien. Depends entirely on the nature of said alien, haha. A harmless one would elicit instant curiosity and fascination - accompanied by caution of course. He’d be examining and studying it all day, and would probably be able to muster out a few nervous questions should the alien be able to speak English. If the alien wasn’t so harmess, expect him to flee and hide and just pray it left. Reactions if he were stuck in his lion form at the time would be more or less the same, although he’d probably be a lot more hesitant to approach the harmless alien for fear of scaring it off.
(I drew this with my mouse with my left hand in MS Paint)
I’ve been dealing with some nasty tendonitis in my right wrist for the past 3 weeks. I haven’t been able to draw digitally for these 3 weeks, and the past week, I haven’t been drawing or playing video games at all, in fear of causing more damage to my arm. It’s been healing up and I saw a physician today for some medical support, but I’m afraid I still have about 2 weeks left (estimately) before I’ll be able to draw again.
Well, because I make all my income through art, I haven’t made any money for the past month, and I’m broke (I’m also currently looking for a job, but due to my lack of experience, that’s going to take a while). I’d like to be able to afford groceries, get a wrist brace, and ideally, be able to pay some loose bills and buy christmas presents for the family. So, I’m offering a little sale/fundraiser.
"Characters" include humans, anthros, animals, monsters, pokemon/fakemon, or ponies
The CATCH is that you have send the money (via paypal) as soon as the commission is settled, and I will queue it (after the commission(s) I owe already). Email me (knickinator (at) gmail.com) with your commission request. Once my hand is better, I will get to delivering your commission ASAP. If I don’t have an OVERLOAD of commissions (ha! I wish), I’ll try my best to also get every commission done before Christmas (given that I’m able to draw in time).
Really, I don’t need a whole lot, but every bit helps. I can get by with $40 or $60 until my hand is better, but having $300+ would let me get back on my feet altogether, and make up for the past month and this month.
If you can’t afford anything, at least reblog :)
If you just want to donate (bless your heart), here is my paypal.
This sale will end once my hand is back in shape.
PS: If you don’t want something from ME or you want something right away, Sandman-Ivan is doing $1 digital colored commissions, and donating to me for the same cause.
feel better soon dude!! That’s a sweet deal so I’m totes gonna grab one.
Starting to feel a little bit like the odd duck out when just about everybody around me is praising Frozen as the best Disney film in a decade or two and I just thought it was… okay. With a lot of frustrating problems that could have been handled much better.
Didn’t think it was anywhere near Beauty and the Beast in terms of quality or… even Tangled frankly… Claims that it was better than both genuinely surprised me actually. I didn’t get all that much of an impact out of it and ended up craving so much more from it. I have no idea what I’m missing and it’s honestly a little alienating being practically the only one you know who’s seen the movie and doesn’t love it.
Every time I see Ghibli's concept art for Pipi Longstocking I get so upset that that never became a thing. If you mash together Kiki and Ponyo it's similar to what could have been I guess...hold me please I'm so troubled
I know right?! It would have been the most perfect thing. :( As I understand it Miyazaki actually worked on it as a pet project in the early 70’s and went out all the way to Sweden to talk to the creator about getting her permission to animate it all. She wasn’t interested in lending him her creation sadly… but the scenery of the hills, sea and town he saw there in Stockholm ended up inspiring the settings for Kiki’s Delivery Service, funnily enough. I think bits of the concepts for Pippi also went into the Panda Go Panda shorts he worked on with Isao Takahata, the protagonist is basically Pippi!
