Ever feel down on your own talent and skill? So did this dude.
The people at Animage [a premiere Japanese animation magazine] encouraged me to do comics, so I went ahead and set down my own concept of Nausicaa. Now I am “doomed” and have to learn the hard way again why, a long time ago, I concluded that I had no talent for comics and gave them up [Miyazaki is being overly modest here]. Now I just want this girl to attain freedom and happiness.

Also consider that in the Art of Nausicaa book I have, which includes Miyazaki’s commentary of his own work, on about every third page he says something to the effect of “I don’t like how this came out” or “I don’t remember drawing this.”
So, easily-frustrated artists who struggle through for the sake of your characters and/or story: you are not alone.
